About this rod

Irish Hardy iron eyed salmon fly

Pattern : Claret & Blue + yellow butt.
Size : Size 1 

Due to building connection over the years in the gut fly sphere, I was lucky enough to have the whole collection appaised by Martin Lanigan O'Keefe.
He described the collection as a "Fantastic find!" 
Martin was given some flies for his deep appraisal of the collection as a contra deal. 
The Fly fishers' club also took some flies for their extensive collection. 
Bar a few examples already taken, I have numerous duplicates of these rare early Hardy Irish patterns. 
I purchased the collection from an estate sale with little known history to the previous owner(s). The collection is a unmolested snap shot of a gentlemans collection bought in the late 1800's or very early 1900's. Martins thoughts were that they were probably purchased for a fishing trip to Ireland. Most as stated are Hardy patterns with a few Irish patterns in there too. Many are in pristine condition. Its amazing that it has been left in its entirety over such a long period of time.

I have now decided to start selling some of this collection to private collectors via  Ebay - will be a listing a selection of Gut Eyed and early iron flies every week.
